System Building

The term system building is used to describe the development of building an electronic system using mainly standard parts such as relays, contactors, PLCs, power supply modules, sensors, enclosures etc. A design is formulated using as many standard parts as possible, then integrated into a system meeting the customer's specification. This approach is usually the most cost effective solution for one-off projects.

Where the volumes justify the development, bespoke hardware and software would be designed for the client. A typical project of this kind may involve defining the product specification, research, prototype development, testing, component procurement and manufacture.
